One of the most important thyroid tests is a thyroid function test; this is a series of blood tests that measure thyroid function by measuring the levels of TSH, T4, and T3 hormones. If the level of each of these hormones is lower or higher than normal, it indicates a thyroid malfunction (hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Importance of attention to thyroid function<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Thyroid is a tiny gland that is located at the base of your neck. if it is not working correctly, it could cause serious problem in body. The gland contains hormones that regulate multiple functions in body, including metabolism, heart rate, and body temperature. Therefore, checking the function of this gland is necessary if some of the symptoms are observed. Also, pregnant women should be checked for thyroid gland function.<\/p>\n<p><strong>If you observe the symptoms below, you should test your thyroid:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Depression, memory issues, and nervousness<\/strong>: This sign is not diagnosed with a thyroid issue. Most of the people think it&#8217;s psychological instead of physical. According to experts&#8217; opinion, &#8220;mood changes (anxiety or depression)&#8221; can indicate that your thyroid is not working well (overactive or underactive).<\/li>\n<li><strong>High level of cholesterol<\/strong>: The American Thyroid Association explains: &#8220;When thyroid hormone levels are low and TSH levels are increased (hypothyroidism), cholesterol levels are increased. So, people with high cholesterol levels should have a thyroid test.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sudden change in weight or permanent hunger<\/strong>: most people recognize weight changes as the primary symptom of thyroid problems; although it is often not the first sign to appear.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Gastrointestinal issues:<\/strong> most of the time, assumed that these issues are caused because something is wrong with your digestive system. According to experts, bowel changes are one of the symptoms of a malfunctioning thyroid. Individuals with this problem should checked their thyroid.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tired all the time, or can&#8217;t sleep: <\/strong>Insomnia can have many causes. But if you&#8217;re having a hard time sleeping, it could be hyperthyroidism. In addition, fatigue is a big sign you should get your thyroid checked.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Muscles or joints feel weak<\/strong>: Muscle weakness is another sign that could show that your thyroid is not working correctly.
