1Does hyperthyroidism lead to infertility?

A new study supports the notion that thyroid disorders (hyper-hypothyroidism) can cause significant reproductive problems for women and men. Hyperthyroidism problems that can affect women's fertility include a variety of issues, including: Menstrual cycle abnormalities (short periods with a very light flow or regular bleeding occurs at intervals of fewer than 21 days), Imbalances in estrogen and progesterone, Shortened luteal phase, elevated levels of LH during the entire menstrual cycle that resulting in lack of ovulation and infertility. The ways in which thyroid disease can have an impact on male fertility have only recently been recognized and aren't fully understood. Some include: Imbalances in blood levels of sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG) and abnormalities of sperm quantity and quality.

2Is hypothyroidism treated or the patients should take the medicine for the rest of their lives?

Answering to this question is difficult. All thyroid diseases can be treated, resulting in normal thyroid function. However, this frequently requires being on medication to maintain the normal thyroid state. Doctors typically prescribe a medication called levothyroxine (a synthetic form of thyroid hormone replacement). In most cases, treatment of hypothyroidism is lifelong. After the initial treatment, your doctor will continue to monitor your progress and may adjust the dosage of levothyroxine to make sure it is right for you. To help get your TSH levels to the desired goal, it is extremely important to take your medication exactly as prescribed, consistently, usually early in the morning, at least one hour apart from food or other pills and with water.

3Can anyone also be obese with hyperthyroidism?

Thyroid hormone helps regulate your metabolism. This means that thyroid hormone also affects your basal metabolic rate (how much energy your body uses to keep functioning while it’s at rest). In most cases, excess thyroid hormone is associated with a high basal metabolic weight which resulting in weight loss. Some people with hyperthyroidism might experience weight gain instead of the more common weight loss. Some reasons why that might happen include: Increased appetite: Hyperthyroidism usually increases your appetite. If you’re taking in a lot more calories, you can gain weight, Hyperthyroidism treatment: Hyperthyroidism treatment brings your body back to its normal state and this condition lead to gain some weight back after you start treatment, Thyroiditis: the most common type of thyroiditis is Hashimoto disease which can in turn cause weight gain.
